Simba cot mattress composition
The eight-layered Simba cot mattress features a sophisticated hybrid construction and has been designed with a baby’s comfort and support in mind.
Conveniently, this is also a dual-sided mattress:
- Baby side: This firmer side of the mattress is designed for babies aged 0 - 12 months. Newborns and babies need to lie flat and straight on firmer support to decrease the risk of suffocation.
- Toddler side: This softer side is designed for toddlers aged 1 - 3 years. As little ones grow, a mattress with more responsive, cushiony comfort is better suited.
Below, we’ll examine the exact layers of each side of the mattress in more detail, but it is worth remembering that the mattress is a complete product, and you’ll always have all the layers.
The only difference is which side you’ll choose to have on top.
Composition of the firmer baby side
The firmer baby side will have these three layers on top:
- 315g washable knitted top cover
- Water-resistant inner lining made from polypropylene
- Thick 50 mmD layer of firm Simba Renew fibres, made from recycled materials and heat-treated for correct firmness and density
By keeping this side of the mattress towards the top, your baby is guaranteed to sleep on a flat, firm surface.
Composition of the softer toddler side
The softer toddler side will have these five layers on top:
- Soft, breathable knitted cover, which is removable and machine-washable
- Water-resistant inner lining
- Cushioning layer of Simba Renew fibres, which is a slightly softer comfort layer to provide cloud-like support (15mmD of soft, fleecy fibre)
- Medium-firm layer of Simba Renew fibres, which helps provide optimum core support (15 mmD of medium fibre)
- Responsive Aerocoil spring layer, which provides responsive support and edge-to-edge stability. This layer consists of 648 x 20 mm conical pocketed springs made of high carbon steel and manufactured in Leeds, enclosed in a 100% polypropylene pocket
By keeping this side of the mattress towards the top, your baby is guaranteed to sleep on a supportive surface that offers a tad more cushioning and comfort.
How firm is the Simba cot mattress?
As we’ve seen, the Simba cot mattress offers two firmness levels: one firm side for babies and one softer side for toddlers.
This is necessary not only for health and safety but also to assist your little one more adequately during this important growth period.

Can you wash the Simba cot mattress cover?
The cover of the Simba Hybrid cot bed mattress is designed for easy care and maintenance, which is a relief for any parent dealing with the messes that come with a young child.
Not only is the core of the mattress protected by a waterproof cover, but the outer top cover is also easily removable and machine-washable at 40℃.
You cannot tumble dry or iron the cover.
Simba cot mattress sizes
The Simba cot mattress is available in one standard size: 70 x 140 cm (27.5 x 55 inches).
This is slightly larger than the 60 x 120 cm (23.6 x 47 inches) cot bed size but accommodates the flippable nature of the mattress and allows you to use it for a longer period of time.
The mattress has a height of 10 cm (3.9 inches).

Simba cot bed mattress delivery conditions
The Simba baby mattress comes with free, carbon-neutral delivery.
- If you order before 2 pm, you’ll get free next-working-day delivery to most mainland UK postcodes
- If you order after 2 pm, you’ll get free standard delivery within two working days
The cot mattress is delivered flat and should be stored flat until you can place it in your cot bed.
