How we test products
Our mission is to take the guesswork out of finding the perfect sleep products.
We've dedicated hundreds of hours to testing mattresses and sleep accessories, and rely on a team of testers of differing weights, temperature preferences, and sleeping positions to evaluate each product.
Tested products are granted the Sleep Hero tested stamp of approval, a mark of our review's reliability.
If we haven't personally tested a product, please be assured that we invest significant time and energy into scouring the UK market and researching the best recommendations, and we work with a team of sleep experts who review our articles, ensuring that the insights we provide are not only relatable but also reliable.
Eve Lighter Hybrid composition
The Eve Lighter Hybrid mattress has a relatively low height of around 20 cm (7.8") and is available in 4 standard sizes.
The mattress layers:
- Evecomfort® foam: A High Resilience PU foam with open cells. The upper layer is made up of micro-particles, intended to better regulate heat before it builds up in the mattress. This improves the breathability of the mattress.
- Foam casing: The pocket springs are wrapped in foam to provide greater stability to the mattress.
- Pocket springs: The springs make up the core of the mattress. The Eve Lighter Hybrid consists of over 650 full-size springs. These provide optimal comfort while supporting your body and relieving pressure points.
- Base foam casing: The base foam also allows for a good distribution of body weight and helps to reduce pressure points.
The Eve Lighter Hybrid mattress cover is made of 98% polyester and 2% elastane.
You can easily remove and wash the cover at 40ºC.
This makes keeping your mattress clean and hygienic very simple, which is particularly important for those suffering from allergies.
Is the Eve Lighter Hybrid mattress comfortable?
The Eve Lighter Hybrid mattress certainly catches the eye, but does it deliver on the comfort front?
We'll dive into some of the key benefits of the Eve Lighter Hybrid below. 👇
A great choice for side and back sleepers
The mattress provides a medium-firm feel, which contours gently to your body, helping to maintain alignment, especially in the hip area.
Plus, the Eve foam ensures your hips don't sink in excessively. ⚓
Lightweight stomach sleepers might also find it suitable, but for most stomach sleepers, a firmer option would be ideal.
Relief for those with back pain
The mattress is designed with its contour zones, making it particularly beneficial for those who grapple with back pain. 😓
The springs in the Eve Lighter Hybrid are arranged strategically to relieve pressure in your hip and shoulder areas while offering enhanced support to the lighter regions of your body.
This means that you can sink in more heavily in some areas than others, aiding optimal spinal alignment.
This helps to reduce strain on the spine, preventing you from waking with aches and pains.
Excellent for couples and restless sleepers
If you share your bed with a partner or tend to toss and turn a lot, the Lighter Hybrid could be your ticket to undisturbed slumber.
Traditional coil mattresses are made with interconnected springs that move together.
However, the Eve Lighter Hybrid is designed with pocket springs, which operate independently, reducing motion transfer.
That means you're less likely to feel your partner's movements during the night.
Good temperature control
A common concern with memory foam mattresses is heat retention, which can lead to uncomfortably warm nights. 🥵
Thankfully, Eve foam is 30 times more breathable than the foam found in cheaper alternatives, warding off excessive heat.
The mattress's full-sized pocket spring layer also plays a role here, promoting airflow and allowing excess heat to escape through the gaps.
However, if you tend to overheat easily, it might be best to steer clear of memory foam altogether. 🔥
Not suitable for heavier weights
While the Lighter Hybrid has many commendable features, it may not be the best fit for heavier individuals due to its thinner profile.
How much does the Eve Lighter Hybrid cost?
The Eve Lighter Hybrid is one of the more affordable bed-in-a-box mattresses available. 💰
This is largely due to its thinner construction, making it an excellent entry-level option.
However, it still works out more expensive than the bestselling Emma Original mattress, which also comes in a standard depth of 25 cm (9.8").
How much you spend on your mattress depends on your individual budget and requirements.
If you're looking for an even more affordable mattress, consider the Eve Lighter mattress.
This measures the same depth as the Lighter Hybrid mattress but has an all-foam composition.
