What does sleeping on the Simba Hybrid Ultra mattress feel like?
A high price tag does not necessarily equal a fantastic mattress, so we took the Ultra for a test run for our Simba Hybrid Ultra mattress review.
How comfortable is the Simba Ultra mattress?
With 11 layers of comfort, a high spring count, and a luxurious depth of 34 cm (13 inches), the Simba Ultra mattress is designed for exceptional comfort.
It provides a feeling of plush support that cradles your body and effectively relieves pressure points.
We felt the Ultra excelled in both comfort and support, and woke up feeling refreshed on a daily basis.
How firm is the Simba Ultra mattress?
Like most Simba mattresses, the Simba Ultra is rated as a medium-firm option, and we'd place it at a 6 out if 10 on the Sleep Hero firmness scale.
It felt a little softer than the best-selling Simba Hybrid Pro, likely due to the extra comfort layers.
If you're looking for a firmer sleep surface, the Ultra may not be the best choice - check out the Origin Hybrid Pro or the Nectar Premier Hybrid instead, which both come in at higher firmness ratings.
But if you're a lighter-weight or an average weight combination sleeper and you enjoy plush comfort, you can't go wrong with this luxury mattress.
Does the Simba Ultra sleep hot?
No, the Simba Ultra is engineered to sleep cool.
We tested it during a UK heatwave and never felt hot, clammy, or uncomfortable, and would highly recommend the Hybrid Ultra to heavy sweaters or people who usually sleep hot.
Is the Simba Ultra well-suited to couples?
Despite offering good edge support and a comfortable sleep surface, we felt quite a bit of motion transfer on the Simba Hybrid Ultra.
It is worth noting, though, that motion transfer can be influenced by your choice of bed:
- Slatted frames or a base that offers less support can increase motion transfer
- Divan bases or high-quality beds will offer more support and a more stable sleep surface
We placed the Ultra on a slatted base, but, even so, felt more motion transfer with the Ultra than with other mattresses we tested in the same setup, including the Simba Earth Escape mattress and the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress.
If you're a very restless sleeper or very sensitive to motion, this might not be the best choice for you.
Simba Hybrid Ultra mattress composition
The Simba Hybrid Ultra mattress is a complex and highly engineered product, coming at a height of 34 cm (13 inches) and featuring 11 layers for premium comfort:
- Fresh FusionCool top layer: Made with kapok, wool, and bamboo for enhanced breathability
- Two layers of graphite-infused Simbatex foam: A double layer for cushioning and heat dissipation
- Support-boosting PureLift layer: A blend of latex and coconut fibres for support and breathability
- 3 layers of Aerocoil micro springs: 3,800 titanium alloy springs in the upper layers and 2,500 high carbon steel springs for support (springs vary according to size)
- CertiPUR stability layer: For extra support and stability between the spring layers
- SupportCore base: 1,000 pocketed barrel springs for enhanced edge-to-edge support
- Stratos cover: A soft, knitted polyester cover that zips off for washing.
The unique combination ensures that the Ultra mattress uses less foam than conventional mattresses, and while it is not an organic mattress per se, this does significantly decrease the mattress's environmental impact. ♻️

Simba Ultra mattress price and discount codes
The Simba Hybrid Ultra is currently the most luxurious mattress in Simba's mattress portfolio, and it has a price tag to match.
You'll be looking at spending over £1,500 for the smallest size.
This means that the Hybrid Ultra won't be your go-to choice if you're on a budget, but if you're looking for a premium addition to a master bedroom, you can't go wrong.
While Simba Sleep discount codes are rare, you will occasionally get percentage-off deals, as well as free accessories with your purchase.
If there are any discounts currently running, we'll be sure to advertise them throughout this article.
Simba Hybrid Ultra mattress delivery and trial conditions
Simba Sleep offers free next-day mattress delivery if you order before 13:00.
Your mattress comes rolled up and compressed in a big cardboard box, but it's worth noting that the Ultra is a chunky, heavy mattress and we'd highly recommend assistance when moving and unpacking. 📦
Despite its height, the mattress bounces back to its original shape fairly quickly after unpacking, with minimal off-gassing.
Conveniently, Simba offers a 200-night risk-free trial and a 10-year guarantee.
We did recently make use of the trial and Simba's support team was friendly and efficient, replacing our faulty mattress within two days with zero fuss.
Again, Simba proves that it has excellent customer service, something definitely worth gold!
Should you buy the Simba Hybrid Ultra mattress?
The Simba Hybrid Ultra is an excellent choice for those seeking a premium, medium-firm mattress with a focus on cooling technology and a high level of support.
Its complex composition and high-quality materials justify its price point, and the 200-night trial period offers a risk-free way to ensure it's the right fit for you.
If you are a hot sleeper or simply want a luxurious and comfortable mattress, the Simba Hybrid Ultra is definitely worth considering.
