Say goodbye to the seasonal duvet shuffle with the Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet.

This ingenious design combines a lightweight summer duvet with a warmer autumn option, creating a supremely snug solution for winter. 🌿🍂❄️

It truly offers all-season comfort for your UK home.

In this Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet review, we'll explore its features, benefits, and any potential drawbacks.

Advantages

  • Convenient 3-in-1 design with separate summer and spring/autumn duvets that can be clipped together.
  • Excellent temperature regulation.
  • Synthetic materials that are fully hypoallergenic.
  • Fully machine-washable and can be tumble-dried.
  • Very lightweight.
  • Feels like a down duvet.
  • Sustainably produced.
  • Free delivery.
  • 1-year guarantee.

Disadvantages

  • No trial period.
  • Quite expensive and may not be within everyone’s budget.
  • A 10.5 tog duvet may still not be warm enough for very cold nights.

Why should you choose the Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet?

The Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet might be your perfect match for the unpredictable UK climate.

Unlike the standard Simba Hybrid duvet, this innovative set comprises two separate duvets that can be effortlessly clipped together using snap buttons.

This provides ultimate flexibility, combining to offer:

  • A lightweight 3.5 tog summer duvet, ideal for warmer nights. 🌿
  • A heavier 7 tog spring/autumn duvet, perfect for transitional seasons. 🌸🍁
  • Combined, these create a snug 10.5 tog winter duvet. ❄️

Made from synthetic materials, this duvet is also naturally hypoallergenic and fully machine-washable and tumble-dryable, making it an excellent choice for allergy sufferers or those prioritising hygiene.

While the 10.5 tog combined rating offers versatile all-season comfort, it's worth noting that very cold winter nights in the UK might call for a higher tog duvet (typically 12.5-13.5+).

If you tend to feel very cold, consider layering with additional blankets.

Ultimately, the Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 offers a high-quality, fuss-free solution for adaptable year-round warmth in your home.

What does sleeping with the Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet feel like?

Unlike the original Simba duvet's crisp feel, the Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet is notably soft, malleable, and very squishy - and very comfortable to sleep with.

While its outer fabric isn't as plush as what you'll find with the Panda Cloud duvet, this is unnoticeable once a duvet cover is added.

It provides a luxurious sensation, much like a high-quality down and feather duvet, but without allergy concerns.

simba hybrid 3-in-1 fluffy feel

Despite combining to a higher tog, the 3-in-1 remains exceptionally lightweight, allowing for unrestricted movement.

For those preferring more weight, pairing with a weighted blanket is an option.

Does the Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet sleep hot?

A duvet's thermal performance depends on its materials, your bedding, and even your mattress.

Tested with cotton bedding on a hybrid mattress during a varied London spring, we found the Simba 3-in-1 to perform exceptionally well.

Even with the combined winter duvet, we never felt weighed down, hot, or clammy.

This adaptive comfort is largely thanks to its breathable Simba Renew fibres and Stratos technology within the cover.

But, while we never felt uncomfortable, we did notice that the synthetic Simba duvet was not quite as cool as our previous down duvet. 🪶

If you’re a very hot sleeper or heavy sweater, you may find that you’re more comfortable with natural materials - or you may just need to sleep with the lower tog options Simba provides.

We also noticed that we felt a tad warmer with the Stratos side over the body than we did with the Modal-and-cotton side facing us.

On the flip side, it’s also worth reiterating that the winter option of the Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet has a tog rating of only 10.5.

While this is warm, many other brands sell 10.5 tog as their cooler spring/autumn option, with the real winter duvets starting at a slightly higher tog.

Most similarly-designed Fine Bedding Company products, for example, can be combined to create a 13.5 tog duvet.

If you get very cold at night, you may feel that the Simba 3-in-1 is not warm enough, and pairing it with additional bedding would be a good idea.

Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet composition

The Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet shares core compositional elements with the standard Simba Hybrid, primarily differing in its modular structure and adaptable tog ratings.

Both duvets within the set feature a unique filling and multi-layered covers designed for temperature regulation and comfort.

  • A top cover made of 100% BCI Cotton with Stratos technology for temperature regulation.
  • A core of Simba Renew Clusters to dissipate heat.
  • A breathable Modal-and-cotton blend bottom cover.

Let's look at these fetures in more detail.

The Simba Renew cluster filling

At its core, the Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet features Simba Renew Clusters.

This synthetic down alternative is innovatively made from recycled PET plastic bottles, ensuring a hypoallergenic and highly sustainable filling.

These fibres are combed into airy, super-soft clusters that efficiently trap heat for warmth.

Despite their insulating properties, these clusters are blended with 20% Modal, a moisture-wicking material derived from natural wood pulp.

This blend ensures excellent breathability and temperature regulation, preventing overheating while maintaining the duvet's lightweight feel.

The innovative Stratos cover

Both duvets feature 100% BCI cotton (from the Better Cotton Initiative for sustainable sourcing) on their top cover, a naturally breathable material enhanced with active Stratos technology.

The bottom cover, however, uses a unique 55% Modal and 45% cooling cotton blend, further enhancing breathability and moisture-wicking.

Stratos technology is a phase-change material (PCM) with microcapsules that actively absorb heat when you're warm and release it when you're cool, constantly adapting to your body temperature.

  • For optimal regulation, the Stratos-infused side (identifiable by a faint hexagonal pattern) should face your body.
  • The standard Modal-cotton side has a block pattern and feels softer.

Distinct design elements help differentiate the two duvets: the 3.5 tog duvet features blue piping, while the 7 tog duvet has grey piping.

Practical box stitching creates evenly spaced pockets throughout both duvets.

This clever design prevents the Simba Renew filling from clumping, ensuring consistent warmth without cold spots and maintaining the duvet's fluffiness.

Finally, the crucial aspect of the 3-in-1 design is the sturdy snap buttons located along the outside edges of both duvets.

These allow you to easily and securely combine the 3.5 tog and 7 tog duvets to form the warmer 10.5 tog winter option.

While designed for secure attachment, they are conveniently placed and generally unnoticeable during sleep.

Simba 3-in-1 duvet washing instructions

The Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet is conveniently machine-washable at 40℃.

This washability is excellent for those with allergies or hygiene concerns, allowing you to easily refresh your hypoallergenic duvet.

It's recommended to wash the duvet once or twice a year.

You can tumble-dry it on a low heat setting or air dry it, ensuring adequate ventilation for thorough drying.

Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet sizes

The Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet is available in most standard UK duvet sizes:

  • Simba 3-in-1 duvet single: 135 x 200 cm (4’6” x 6’6”)
  • Simba 3-in-1 double duvet: 200 x 200 cm (6’6” x 6’6”)
  • Simba 3-in-1 duvet king size: 230 x 220 cm (7’5” x 7’2”)
  • Simba 3-in-1 duvet super-king size: 260 x 220 cm (8’5” x 7’2”)

Generally, your duvet size should match your bed size but you may want to choose a larger duvet or two single duvets if you’re sharing your bed with a partner. 👩‍❤️‍👨

Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet prices & discounts

The Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet comes with a premium price tag, roughly double that of the standard Simba duvet.

While this reflects getting three duvets in one, the combined 10.5 tog winter rating might still be insufficient for very cold sleepers, potentially requiring additional layers.

Despite the investment, we find this duvet exceptionally comfortable and appreciate its innovative technology.

If your budget allows, it stands as a versatile and high-quality purchase.

However, if cost is a primary concern or you need a warmer winter option, consider alternatives like the Panda Cloud duvet or DreamCloud duvet.

Simba offers occasional sales on their bedding, including the Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet.

We were very happy to see that Simba utilises environmentally-friendly packaging.

While the product as a whole was wrapped in a plastic bag for protection, the duvet itself was placed in a convenient carry bag made of recycled materials. ♻️

The zipper bag is reusable and a great storage option to keep whichever duvet you don’t happen to be using at the time.

If you’re short on space, we’d recommend vacuum-packing the duvet before or after placing it into the storage bag. The duvets are very fluffy.

There is a small plastic lining along the zip of the bag for extra protection, but no plastic or cardboard is otherwise used.
