The Regency Kew 2800 is a standout in their collection, combining traditional English craftsmanship with modern materials like breathable bamboo. This double-sided, pocket-sprung mattress is designed for those who value a firm, resilient feel.

We put this handcrafted model to the test in this Sleepeezee Regency Kew mattress review to see if its performance lives up to its royal reputation.

Sleepeezee Regency Kew

Who is the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 suitable for?

The Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 is a firm, traditional mattress that prioritises spinal alignment and durability. We think it’s particularly well-suited to:

  • Back and stomach sleepers: The firm support grade prevents the midsection from sinking, which is vital for lower back health.
  • Sleepers with back pain: The minimum 2,800 pocket and micro-springs provide excellent push-back and contouring.
  • Hot sleepers: The natural bamboo fibres and breathable fillings promote excellent airflow.
  • Those seeking longevity: The double-sided design allows you to flip and rotate the mattress to extend its lifespan.

How comfortable is the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800?

Comfort is subjective, but our testing team found the Kew 2800 to be a refined and supportive sleep surface.

Despite its firm rating, it offers a sophisticated level of responsiveness and worked well in a number of sleeping positions:

  • For back sleepers, this mattress is excellent. It distributes weight evenly and provides the frame with the right amount of contouring.
  • Interestingly, while firm mattresses can sometimes be a struggle for side sleepers, our tester found that it didn't create uncomfortable pressure points on the hips. However, if you have a very lightweight or "hour-glass" frame, you might find the surface a bit too rigid for side sleeping.
  • Firm mattresses are also excellent for stomach sleepers since they provide the required push-back for optimal spinal alignment.

One of the highlights of our test was the ease of movement.

Unlike memory foam, which can sometimes leave you feeling stuck, the responsive spring system makes it easy to change positions throughout the night.

Our testers reported high-quality, undisturbed sleep with no significant noise or vibration.

How firm is the Sleepeezee Regency Kew Mattress?

This is undeniably a firm mattress.

If you prefer a soft, sinking hug feel, this definitely won't be the right choice for you, and you’d be better off with something like the Simba Hybrid mattress.

We rate it at the firmer end of the scale, 9 out of 10 on the Sleep Hero firmness scale, though it maintains a personalised feel depending on your body weight.

The mattress also features reinforced edges to eliminate that roll-off feeling.

In our tests, we found it maintained good height and firmness when sleeping right up to the edge. However, there is some noticeable sinkage when sitting on the very edge of the bed.

A point of note regarding the dimensions: while the official brochure lists a height of 31cm, our testing team measured the depth at 24 cm. This is a significant difference to keep in mind when choosing your bed frame and sheets.

Does the Sleepeezee Kew 2800 sleep cool?

Temperature regulation is a standout feature with the Sleepeezee Regency Kew.

Not only does it feature springs, which generally allow for better airflow, but the mattress is also encased in an antibacterial bamboo cover and features bamboo comfort layers.

Bamboo is naturally breathable and moisture-wicking.

Our testers, who typically get hot easily, found the mattress felt cool and refreshing throughout the night.

While we haven't yet tested it in the height of summer, its early performance suggests it is an excellent option for those who struggle with overheating.

Is the Regency Kew mattress good for couples?

Despite being a traditional spring mattress, the Regency Kew 2800 handles motion isolation remarkably well.

It uses a minimum of 2,800 individually wrapped pocket springs that move independently.

Our lead tester, a light sleeper, noted that they felt no vibration when changing positions, which makes the mattress a practical choice for couples who want to avoid the roll-together effect often found in cheaper spring mattresses.

Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 composition

Handcrafted in Kent, this mattress features a sophisticated 11-layer double-sided construction:

  1. Antibacterial Bamboo Cover: A soft-touch damask cover infused with bamboo to prevent odours and maintain freshness.
  2. Bamboo Comfort Layer: Naturally durable and highly breathable to assist with temperature regulation.
  3. Soft Polycotton Layer: A blend of polyester and cotton that provides a soft, cushioned transition.
  4. Cushioning Polyester: A high-density layer designed to protect the springs and add loft.
  5. Supportive Micro Pocket Springs: The first layer of tiny springs that react instantly to your body’s micro-movements.
  6. Individually Wrapped Pocket Springs: The core support system containing 800 traditional springs (in a king size) to distribute weight evenly.
  7. Supportive Micro Pocket Springs: A second layer of micro-springs (bringing the total count to 2,800) for enhanced responsiveness.
  8. Cushioning Polyester: A mirrored layer for durability.
  9. Soft Polycotton Layer: Mirrored for consistent comfort.
  10. Bamboo Comfort Layer: Mirrored to allow for regular flipping.
  11. Antibacterial Bamboo Cover: The identical bottom surface, ensuring a premium feel on both sides.

Many modern bed-in-a-box mattresses feature a single-sided construction, so it’s nice to have some traditional double-sided mattresses available, too. There are advantages and disadvantages to both, but double-sided mattresses can (and should) be turned and flipped regularly for elongated usage.

Dreams delivery and trial conditions

We got our Sleepeezee Regency Kew through Dreams, so we’re looking at those delivery and trial conditions. But please note that Sleepeezee is sold by multiple partners and independent retailers, and delivery, trial, and warranty conditions may vary depending on where you purchase your mattress.

To qualify, you must use a mattress protector from day one.

Verdict: Should you buy the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800?

The Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 is a standout choice for those who prefer traditional British craftsmanship over modern no-flip foams.

It successfully balances a firm, orthopaedic feel with the natural cooling properties of bamboo, making it one of the most breathable mattresses we’ve tested.

We recommend the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 if:

  • You need firm, reliable support for lower back health.
  • You are a hot sleeper who prefers natural fibres over memory foam.
  • You want a durable, double-sided mattress built to last.
  • You are a light sleeper who needs excellent motion isolation.

While the depth variance and the need for regular flipping require some consideration, the superior motion isolation and 10-year guarantee make it a high-value, long-term investment for back and stomach sleepers.

Frequently asked questions
