Best UK alternatives to the Bruno mattress
Since Bruno no longer operates in the UK, why not check out some of these alternative mattresses instead?
Bruno mattress composition
The Bruno mattress has a one-of-a-kind design that's simple but effective.
Why waste time on fluff and frill if simple works best?
In addition to the cover (which we'll look at in detail further down), there are two main compositional elements to the Bruno mattress.
These include:
- A layer of up to 2,750 micro pocket springs with a diameter of 3 cm (1.2 inches) and height of 1.5 cm (0.6 inches) for extra contouring and relief of pressure points.
- A comfort layer of softer and a bottom layer of firmer BrunoX speciality foam, an extra-durable polyurethane cold foam that provides support and stability.
The mattress has a total depth of 24 cm (9.4 inches). 🗻
This is slightly below industry standard - comparable mattresses like the Simba Hybrid and Emma Hybrid measure 25 cm (9.8 inches) - but the mattress will still look and feel great in any bedroom setup.
The Bruno mattress is also subdivided into 7 longitudinal comfort zones.
These offer more support where needed and more sinkage where needed, keeping the spine in a healthy alignment. 📏
Bruno mattress cover
The Bruno mattress cover is soft and durable, made of a polyester-cotton mix.
Conveniently, the cover has a zipper, so you can quickly remove it from the mattress and pop it in the machine for a wash. 🛀
The mattress cover can be machine-washed at 60℃.
This is particularly handy for people struggling with allergies, who would need to clean their mattress (and cover) more frequently.
The bottom layer of the cover is made of polyester and can also be washed at 60℃.
The cover also sports the super cute Bruno bear logo. 🐻
Coincidentally, some of our favourite brands all have bear logos.

What does sleeping on the Bruno mattress feel like?
The Bruno mattress is advertised as a medium-firm mattress, largely due to its combination of foams and micro pocket springs.
The pocket springs offer body-contouring support and adapt to your body for optimal pressure relief, no matter your sleeping position.
The 7-zone support structure also works optimally to ensure spinal alignment, no matter your sleep position or body weight.
This makes the Bruno an excellent mattress to help alleviate back pain and get a good night's sleep.
That said, the Bruno mattress is best suited to average-weight individuals weighing between 50 kg (110 lbs) and 110 kg (242 lbs). 🏋️
Lighter-weight individuals may do better on a slightly softer foam mattress, like the Emma Original memory foam mattress.
But Bruno also sells a mattress topper to help you achieve a softer feel.
Conveniently, you can buy the mattress topper as a stand-alone product or together with your mattress.
Heavier-weight individuals may be better supported on a more sturdy pocket-sprung mattress, like the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid.
Bruno mattress sizes
The Bruno mattress has a height of 24 cm (9.2 inches) and is available in standard European mattress sizes. 🇪🇺
These include:
- 80 x 200 cm (2'6" x 6'6")
- 90 x 200 cm (3'0" x 6'6")
- 100 x 200 cm (3'3" x 6'6")
- 140 x 200 cm (4'6" x 6'6")
- 160 x 200 cm (5'2" x 6'6")
- 180 x 200 cm (5'9" x 6'6")
- 200 x 200 cm (6'6" x 6'6")
Unfortunately, these mattress sizes aren't comparable to standard UK mattress sizes.
The only sizes that match standard UK dimensions are:
- Super-king Bruno mattress: 180 x 200 cm (6' x 6'6")
- Emperor Bruno mattress: 200 x 200 cm (6'6" x 6'6")
If you're looking for an extra-large bed, then you can't go wrong with the Bruno. 👑
But if you're looking for a mattress that's more compatible with UK beds and bedding, you're better off looking at UK competitors.

What does the Bruno mattress cost?
The Bruno mattress is available at a fair price, in line with other UK-based mattress brands.
Even though Bruno mattress discount codes are quite rare, you'll still get exceptional value for money.
What else does Bruno Interiors sell?
In addition to the Bruno mattress, the company also sells the following:
- Berlin metal bed frame
- Bruno box spring bed frame
- Bruno upholstered bed frame
- Bruno chair bed
- Bruno sofa bed
- Bruno mattress topper
You can even choose to purchase the mattress with or without the topper. 🙌
In Germany, Bruno's original market, the company also sells a range of bedding products and sleep accessories.
Bruno mattress delivery conditions
The Bruno mattress is delivered to the UK free of charge within 6 weeks of ordering. 🚚
This is much longer than standard UK mattress deliveries, which usually take place within 1 - 3 business days.
Conveniently, the Bruno mattress comes with free 2-man delivery, so you won't need to worry about carrying the box by yourself.
Like other bed-in-a-box mattresses, the Bruno is rolled up and vacuum-sealed in a compact box. 📦
It'll expand to its full size as soon as the mattress has been unpacked.
Does the Bruno mattress comes with a trial period?
Bruno offers its customers a risk-free 30-day trial period, which begins right after delivery.
This means you can try the mattress for 30 days, and if you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can simply return the mattress for a full refund. 💷
Trial periods are great since it's almost impossible to know if a mattress is right for you if you haven't slept on it first.
We always recommend choosing a mattress with a trial period.
Thirty days should be plenty to figure out whether or not you're comfortable on the mattress, but comparable UK mattress brands offer slightly longer trial periods.
- Emma and Simba both offer a 200-night trial period.
- The Nectar mattress and DreamCloud mattress both come with a 365-day trial period.
If a 30-day trial period seems too short, we'd recommend opting for a brand with a longer trial.

Should you buy the Bruno mattress?
The Bruno mattress is a high-quality mattress that's definitely comparable to other UK brands.
We can recommend it to anyone looking for a quality product that's incredibly durable.
On the downside, however, the Bruno mattress is only available in European sizes, has a very long delivery time, and the trial period is quite short when compared to other UK brands.
If you have an EU-sized bed and bedding, you can't go wrong with the Bruno mattress. 🇪🇺
But if you're looking to add a mattress to a UK-sized bed and existing bedding products, you'd be better off investing in a UK-sized mattress.
The Bruno is one-of-a-kind, and there aren't really any comparable products composition-wise, but we'd recommend looking at the Simba Hybrid or Nectar Hybrid as good alternatives.
