Emma pillow UK composition
The Emma pillow UK is made up of three layers of foam.
These three layers are:
- A cold foam top layer, which supports pressure points and reduces neck pain.
- An Airgocell foam middle layer, which provides counter-pressure and acts as a stabiliser for your head & spine.
- A visco-elastic memory foam bottom layer, which offers good pressure relief and contours to the shape of your head.
You can adjust the pillow to suit your liking by removing one or two layers. 🤩
Emma pillow: Which way up?
There is no correct way of sleeping on the Emma pillow.
The benefit of this pillow is that you can choose which foam layer to sleep on. 👌
Ultimately, it is up to you to decide what is the most comfortable.
We look into this in more detail further down.
Fully customisable pillows are quite rare, so it's always great to find one.
Here are our other favourite UK adjustable pillows:
How do I adjust the Emma pillow to suit my sleeping position?
How do you know if you need a low loft or a high loft pillow?
Of course, your personal preferences play a part.
But, ultimately, your sleeping position influences how high or low your pillow should be.
Luckily, as we found during our Emma Original pillow review, you can adjust the layers to suit your ideal sleeping style. 🥳
Side sleepers generally do better on high loft pillows. ⛰
If you sleep on your side, you should keep all three foam layers of the Emma Original pillow.
This allows the distance between the head and shoulders to be filled and guarantees that you have enough support for a good night's sleep.
But, you can still choose which side of the pillow you want to rest your head on, the memory foam comfort side or the cold foam support side.
We wouldn't recommend you sleep on your stomach.
This is the worst position for your neck as you'll have to be turned to one side all night long in order to breathe.
This will undoubtedly cause pain and tension. 😩
But, you can still maximise comfort by choosing the right pillow.
If you're a front sleeper, we'd suggest choosing only one of the three layers of the Emma pillow.
This will ensure that your pillow isn't too high - or too low. 👌
Of course, you can choose the layer you prefer the most.
Sleeping on your back is the healthiest of all. 😁
For this position, you'd need a medium-loft pillow.
If your pillow is too low or too high, your neck will bend up or down, creating unnecessary tension.
If you sleep on your back, choosing two of the three Emma pillow layers is ideal. 👍
We'd recommend combining the middle Airgocell foam layer with the HRX foam layer or the memory foam layer.
Emma pillow sizes
The Emma memory foam pillow is available in one standard size of 40 x 70 cm (15.7 x 27.5 inches).
Pillow height is adjustable, but it will have a maximum height of 12 cm (4.7 inches).
The dimensions are on par with most pillows, like the Kally Sleep adjustable pillow, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a suitable pillowcase. 🎉

Does the Emma pillow come with a trial period?
Like with the Emma mattresses, the Emma memory foam pillow comes with a 200-night risk-free trial period.
This is a key feature of the Emma Original pillow. 🔑
A lengthy trial period means you have ample time to test the pillow in the comfort of your own home.
Like new mattresses, it may take a few nights to get used to a new pillow.
This is particularly true if you're moving from a more traditional pillow to a memory foam pillow.
